Q Energy

Brdy and Netcelero gave Q Energy’s solar site in France three static public IPv4 addresses over a single Starlink connection, with secure, independent access for each vendor and full separation for CCTV and site Wi-Fi.

At a solar site in France, Q Energy needed more than reliable satellite connectivity. Multiple operational systems and third-party vendors needed secure, independent remote access, all through a single Starlink connection. Working together, Brdy and Netcelero delivered the connectivity, static IP addressing and network segmentation required.

The Challenge:
Q Energy is a pan-European renewable energy company and part of the Hanwha Group. At a solar site in France, it needed reliable satellite connectivity, and Brdy provided Starlink in bridge mode, giving the site its connection to the outside world. As the site’s requirements developed, it became clear that connectivity was only part of the challenge.

The problem:
Q Energy needed multiple fixed public IPv4 addresses and secure, segregated remote access for several operational systems and third-party vendors. A standard Starlink connection couldn’t provide the fixed public IPv4 addressing these different remote-access requirements needed. A commissioning and maintenance vendor needed secure remote access to the site, while a separate vendor responsible for monitoring power flows for grid export required its own independent access. CCTV needed to remain completely separate from the other site systems, and general site Wi-Fi, including Wi-Fi calling for on-site operatives, also required its own separation. With one connection and one address, these systems couldn’t be properly separated or securely reached.

The solution:
To meet these more advanced networking requirements, Brdy brought Netcelero into the project. Netcelero deployed i-ctrl over the site’s bridged Starlink connection, going live in May 2026. Together, Starlink and i-ctrl gave Q Energy three static public IPv4 addresses over a single Starlink connection, a capability that couldn’t be achieved with Starlink alone. Each technology vendor can now connect securely and independently, with access restricted to the systems and traffic it needs. CCTV is fully isolated from the site’s other systems, and operational Wi-Fi is kept separate from CCTV and the other site systems. Rather than introducing separate connections or additional hardware, all three static, independently addressable public IPs are delivered over the site’s existing Starlink link.

Result:
For Q Energy, the result is a network designed around the different requirements of its solar site. Operational systems, CCTV and on-site Wi-Fi remain separate, reducing the risk of lateral movement between systems, and the two external vendors each have secure, independent access to the systems they need. At the same time, Q Energy has three static public IP addresses operating over a single Starlink connection, extending what its satellite connectivity can deliver without adding further connectivity services. For Brdy, working with Netcelero meant its Starlink solution could be extended with the specialist networking needed to meet Q Energy’s security and remote-access requirements.

In conclusion, by pairing Starlink with Netcelero’s i-ctrl, Brdy gave Q Energy secure, segregated access for every system and vendor on its solar site from one satellite connection. Q Energy is a pan-European renewable energy company active across the full project lifecycle, from development and construction through to operation. Its activities span solar, onshore and offshore wind, battery storage and hybrid power plants. Headquartered in Berlin with offices across Spain, Portugal and France, Q Energy has an active development pipeline of more than 8.2 GW and is part of the Hanwha Group. “Keeping our critical systems properly separated and securely accessible was a priority we could not compromise on. Brdy brought Netcelero into the project, and together they gave us the Starlink connectivity and secure network segmentation we needed without adding complexity. The deployment was straightforward from start to finish.”
